Hurtia Anthony W 830224 np Funeral Rites Saturday for A.W. Hurtig, 89; Final rites are planned here Saturday for Anthony William Hurtig, 89, who died Tuesday at Emanuel Hospital in Turlock following a long illness. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. at Patterson District Cemetery, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Lawrence Sailer will officiate. A native of Kansas, he had lived here since 1918 after moving from Hilmar. He was a farmer, ditch tender for the Patterson Water District, carpenter and volunteer police reserve here in Patterson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Hurtig of Patterson; a son, Ray Hurtig of Saratoga, Calif.; two daughters, Adeline Rapp of Crows Landing and Vivian Walz of Sunnyvale; one sister, Esther Thorkelson of Turlock; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
