Newrick, Ruby R 060218 p9 Ruby Rosalind Newrick Dec. 30, 1911 � Feb. 11, 2006 Services will be Wednesday for Ruby Rosalind Wroe Newrick of Patterson, 94, who died Saturday at San Luis Convalescent Hospital in Newman. Mrs. Newrick, was born and raised in Oldham, England, and had lived in Patterson three years. She previously had lived in Copperopolis 13 years and before that in Fremont four years. Mrs. Newrick also lived in Walled Lake, Mich., for a year between her returns to England. She was a member of Church of the Ascension Episcopal Church in Copperopolis. Mrs. Newrick worked 10 years at Skefco Ltd., a ball bearing manufacturer in Luton, England, before she married in 1934. She worked in a munitions factory throughout World War II. After the war, she and her husband owned and operated a fishand-chips shop in Oldham, England, from 1944 to 1954 and a green grocer produce store in Shaw, England, from 1954 to 1964. Before her retirement in 1976, she worked two years at The G.E.C. Ltd., a light bulb company in Luton. Mrs. Newrick is survived by her daughter, June Jackson, and her husband, Leonard, of Patterson; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Newrick, in 1986. Wednesday's memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Newrick's name may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Modesto Field Office, 1604 Ford Ave., Suite 8, Modesto 95350.
