Former Resident Drowned in Surf; Seymour E. Newton, former Colony resident, was swept to his death by a rip tide at
Laguna Beach in Southern California last week, according to advices received by local friends. Newton formerly had a
ranch on Poplar avenue, but sold out some years ago to return to Glendale where he was engaged in business. He was
fishing on the rocks with a party of friends when a huge wave washed them all off.  The rest succeeded in gaining the
shore again but Newton disappeared and his body had not yet been recovered at last reports.  He was 38 years of age and
is survived by a widow and two children.
