Gwen A. Nichols, 74,;  Gwen A Nichols of Patterson died Monday at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.  She was 74.
A native of Modesto, she had lived here the past seven years after residing in Livermore from 1962-87.  She was a 49
year resident of Stanislaus County.  As well as being a homemaker, she had been a medical assistant for Howard Long,
M.D., of Pleasanton.  A graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson will be held Friday at 3 p.m.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 am. to 2 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in
Hughson.  Survivors include her husband, J. E. Nichols of Patterson; a son, James R. Nichols of Clear Lake; three
daughters, Robin Lee Michel of Houston, Texas, Susan Faye Scott of Farmington, N.M., and, Paula Quilici of Dixon;
five grandchildren; and two sisters, Freda Michel of Oakdale and Winifred Swenson of Middletown.  Remembrances
should be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 4719 Greenleaf Circle, Modesto, Calif. 95356.
