Nunez Jessica R 950411 p3 Jessica Ramos Nunez, 17; Joint services will be held here tonight, Tuesday, and Wednesday for three young people killed in an auto accident on Highway 33 early Saturday morning. A rosary will be recited this evening at 7 o'clock for Dora G. Cantu, 19; her cousin Brenda Garcia, 18; and Jessica Ramos Nunez, 17. The first two lived in Patterson and graduated from Patterson High last June, while the third was a resident of Westley and a sophomore at PHS this year. The rosary will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where a joint Mass for the three will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial in Patterson District Cemetery will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m., also at the church. Dora Cantu had served as a mat maid for the PHS wrestling team, and had been a score keeper for the baseball team when she was in high school. She planned to enroll in college soon. Survivors include her parents, Santiago and Julia Cantu of Patterson; three brothers, Santiago Jr. and Carlos Cantu of Patterson and Roy Cantu of Salida; a sister, Denise Cantu of Patterson; and a grandmother, Dora Hernandez of Texas. Brenda Garcia also had lived here all her life, and had kept score for the wrestling and baseball teams at PHS. She was involved in the 11th annual Hispanic Education Conference, was a member of the Mundo Latino Club and was a Delta Blood Bank donor. In addition she was to play the part of Juanita in a Cinco de Mayo play at Modesto Junior College early next month and was a member of other organizations at MJC where she attended school. Her goal was to become a kindergarten teacher. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include her mother, Santos Garcia of Patterson; her father, Arnulfo D. Garcia of Modesto; a brother, Pedro Cantu of Patterson; two sisters, Chriselda Garcia of Modesto and Andrea "Lizzie" Velasquez of Patterson; grandparents Jesus Garcia of Texas and Catarina Garcia of Raymondville, Texas; and other relatives in Patterson, Raymondville, Houston, and Ogden, Kansas. Jessica Nunez also was a lifelong West Side resident. She is survived by her parents, Jesus and Virginia Nunez of Westley; a brother, Adan Lopez of Texas; three sisters, Irene Nunez of Modesto, Lisa Vasquez of Riverbank, and Frances Nunez of Walnut Creek; and her grandparents, Salvador and Maria Hernandez of Riverbank and Manuel and Guadalupe Pena of Texas.
