Bishop O'Dowd Dies Following Auto Accident; It was with great sorrow that the Catholic people Patterson received the
news of the death of Bishop James T. O'Dowd, Auxiliary Bishop of San Francisco, Sunday. For it was only December 4
that the Bishop was in Patterson to consecrate the new Sacred Heart Church. Bishop O'Dowd died as the result of a
collision between the car in which he was riding and a freight train at Suisun Friday afternoon. Father Lema of the Sacred
Heart church told the Irrigator yesterday that the bishop's death was a great sock to him.  He said that Catholicism lost a
great leader as Bishop O'Dowd was respected by all who know him.  Father Lima plans a special services in his memory
in the near future.
