Gabriel Ortiz, 79;  Gabriel C. Quiz, who had lived in Grayson the past 23 years, died last Thursday at Memorial Medical
Center in Modesto.  He was 79.  Born in Jalisco, Juchitian, Mexico. he had worked as a farm laborer for Herman E. Chunn
in the Vernalis area for 13 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  A vigil service was held Sunday at
the church, where a Mass was held Monday morning. Burial followed in Patterson District Cemetery. Hillview Funeral
Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.  Survivors include his wife, Ramona Qrtiz of Gravson; four sons, Crisanto of
Vernalis, Juan of Mexico, Gabriel Jr. and Gerardo Ortiz, both of Grayson; eight daughters, Silvia Reynoso of Long Beach.
Elia Arreygue and Maria Navarro, both of Ceres, Sonia Rodriguez of Modesto, Rosa Arroyo of Hawaii, Ramona Trejo.
Carmen Cabada and Grauben Rodriguez, all of Patterson; 23 grandchildren; a brother. Margarito Quiz of Anaheim; and
three sisters, Socorro Rohles, Guadalupe Santana and Cirila Perez, all of Mexico.  Remembrances should he made to
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St.. Patterson.
