Ortiz, Jose P 060816 p9 Jose Pedro Ortiz Jan. 31, 1924 � Aug. 14, 2006 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday for Jose Pedro Ortiz of Patterson, who died Monday. Mr. Ortiz, 82, was a native of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and had lived in Patterson 25 years. He worked 25 years in the road construction industry. He enjoyed gardening, walking and being in the company of family, friends and neighbors. Mr. Ortiz is survived by his sons, Javier Ortiz, Arturo Ortiz and Pedro Ortiz Jr., all of Patterson; daughters, Amalia Momberger of Salt Lake City, Utah, Antonia Ortiz DeCastillo of Mexico, and Olga Ortiz and Yolanda Ortiz, both of Patterson; five brothers and four sisters, all of Mexico; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Antonia Barrera De Ortiz. Thursday's Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow in Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, in Patterson. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson, followed immediately by the recital of a rosary. Memorial contributions in Mr. Ortiz's name may be sent to Community Hospice Inc., 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto 95356- 9259.
