Osburn Robert C 810716 p1 Final Rites Tuesday for Jack Osburn; Crows Landing - Graveside funeral services will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. in Hills Ferry Cemetery for longtime Crows Landing resident and civic leader Robert C. "Jack" Osburn, 88, who died Friday afternoon at Del Puerto Hospital in Patterson. A native of Newman, Osburn spent 39 years in banking and experimental farming on the West Side. He began his banking career at the Bank of Newman; later he and Charles Filippini purchased First National Bank of Crows Landing. After First National was sold to First Western Bank, he worked for First Western at branches in Gustine, Newman, Crows Landing and Patterson, from where he retired. A veteran of the U.S. Army s Fourth Division in World War I, he was a charter member of American Legion Post 110 in Newman, which was formed more than 60 years ago. He also was a charter member of the Crows Landing Fire De- partment. He was a 60 year member of the Hills Ferry Masonic Lodge, and a former director of the Central California Irrigation district. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one son, William R. of Crows Landing; one brother, Raymond S. Osburn of Hanford and a sister, Ruth Underhill of Newman. The family requests that remembrances be made to favorite charities in lieu of flowers.
