Vargas, Raymundo M 060225 p14 Raymundo Moreno Vargas Jan. 4, 1943 � Feb. 19, 2006 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday for Raymundo Moreno Vargas of Edwards, who died Sunday at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster. Mr. Vargas, 63, was a native of Indio and had lived in Edwards five years. He previously had lived in Modesto from 1989 to 1997. He was a butcher at Edwards Air Force Base and had worked 18 years in the commissary there. He was also a U.S. Army veteran who had served in Vietnam and a member of the Disabled Army Veterans. Mr. Vargas had relatives and friends on the West Side. He liked to collect and refurbish old vehicles. Mr. Vargas is survived by his wife, Matilda Vargas of Edwards; daughters, Eva Mendez and Elisa Ortiz, both of Modesto; brothers, Frank Vargas of Riverside and Steve Moreno of Escondido; sisters, Isabel Robles of San Bernardino and Angie Corona of Fresno; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isabello and Matiana Vargas, and two brothers and a sister. Tuesday's Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church, 370 Linden Ave., Gustine. Burial will follow in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road, Gustine. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 515 First Ave., Gustine, followed immediately by the recital of a rosary.
