Vetro Arthur A 980514 p10 Arthur Anthony Vetro, 69; Final rites will be held here today, Thursday, for longtime Patterson area resident Arthur Anthony Vetro. He died at his home Tuesday after being in failing health for some time. He was 69. A native of Modesto, he grew up in the Livingston area and had lived his entire adult life here. He retired as a trouble shooter for PG&E after 38 years with the company. He was honored by the company in 1982 for the part he played in rescuing a young woman and her child from raging water in Del Puerto Canyon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He also was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart, with burial to follow in the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery near Gustine. A rosary was held Wednesday evening at Hillview Funeral Chapel. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Vetro of Patterson; a son, Jim Vetro of Modesto; two daughters, Kathy Martinez of Patterson and Allison Rayford of Ceres; five grandchildren; and a sister, Helene Swartzell of South San Francisco.
