Von Moos Emma 460308 p1 Patterson Girl Killed in Crash; Newman Accident Fatal To Miss Emma von Moos; A Patterson girl was the victim early Friday morning of the latest highway tragedy in the current crash epidemic on the West Side. Miss Emma von Moos was instantly killed when her skull was crushed against the windshield of the car in which she was a passenger, while homeward bound at one a. m. from a Newman dance. Three other occupants, all Patterson residents escaped with minor injuries. Miss Marie Accardo and Americo Bellani incurred cuts about the face and Pete Grischott suffered a badly wrenched leg. Hit Culvert; The party was about a half mile north of Newman when, according to Bellani who was driving, they met a car whose lights caused him to misjudge the pavement width and the machine went off to the right. According to the report of Highway Patrolman E. L., McCabe, the tire tracks showed that the car traveled about seventy-five feet at an angle which led it far enough off the road to strike squarely against the concrete abutment of a highway culvert. The impact splintered the reinforced concrete as the car was tripped and went completely over to land of its wheels again on the other side of the ditch. The blow drove the car engine back under the floor boards. Funeral Monday; Miss von Moos was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis von Moos, whose home is on Las Palmas Avenue. She was twenty years old and was a native of the Imperial Valley, where the family resided until they moved to Patterson two years ago. She was employed at the Doris Lee Beauty Parlor. She was a member of the Young Ladies Institute and the Business Girls' Club. Beside her patents, she is survived by two brothers and two sisters Joe, Mary, Louis arid Rosie. Rosary services were held In the Evans Funeral Chapel on Sunday evening, followed by funeral rites at Sacred Heart Church on Monday morning, with Rev. Manuel F. Rose officiating. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery
