Patterson Irrigator, 05/27/2010, p 6 Joe von Moos 02/27/1928 – 05/22/2010 A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 29, for Joe von Moos of Patterson, who died Saturday, May 22, at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Mr. von Moos, 82, was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Heber and lived in Patterson for 66 years. He worked 27 years as an irrigation pipe yard clerk for Patterson Concrete and previously worked at Arden Farms Creamery. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Mr. von Moos was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post No.168 of Patterson, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 50-Plus Club. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards, and loved to work in his yard and spend time with family. Mr. von Moos is survived by his daughters, Teri Rollins, and her husband, Dan, of Clovis and Cathy Trinta of Patterson; brother, Louie von Moos of Chico; sisters, Mary Schleiss of Turlock and Rosy Cardoza of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. Mr. von Moos was preceded in death by his wife, Betty von Moos, who died in 2004; and a sister, Emma von Moos. A rosary and Mass will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St. Burial will follow in Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Hillview Funeral Chapel of Patterson, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave. Memorial contributions in Mr. von Moos’ name may be sent to American Legion Post 168, P.O. Box 455, Patterson, CA 95363; to the Father Connors Endowment Trust Fund, P.O. Box 1174, Patterson, CA 95363; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
