Chuck Knuthson’s Genealogy Class 

American River College Extension Program this Spring: SEARCH FOR YOUR ANCESTORS: An Introduction to Family History and Genealogy (Class code #7002.101)  Thursday evenings, March 7, 14, 21, April 4, 11, 2002 (no class on March 28). The class meets on the ARC campus. Each class session meets from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. (The tour is scheduled separately.)

This introductory class will explore the fascinating world of genealogy and family history research. In this class, you will learn the types of records to research; successful research strategies including identifying, locating, and searching sources; organizing and recording data on forms and charts; and how to evaluate data that is discovered.

The use of computers, the Internet, and genealogical and other software programs in your research will also be discussed. The class includes five, three-hour classroom sessions plus a field trip to the Sacramento Family History Center, a local genealogical research facility (to be scheduled).

 Fee: $69 (+ $5 fee to the instructor to cover handout materials)

 NOTE: Pre-registration is not required, but is strongly ADVISED. Any class not meeting the minimum number of registrations is subject to cancellation. 

Instructor: Chuck Knuthson, a police captain, has been studying and conducting genealogical research for twenty-five years. He has instructed beginning and intermediate classes for seven years and speaks at local and regional genealogical societies. A graduate of the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and others, he is pursuing certification as a professional genealogist.
