The Joshua Tree Chapter was confirmed by the National Board of Management on October 15, 1987.  The organizational meeting and the installation of officers was held on October 31, 1987, at the Officers Club, aboard the United States Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, CA (MCAGCC).
The chapter took its name from the unique variety of the Yucca Plant,  which is peculiar to the Joshua Tree National Park and the surrounding communities.
Our Chapter currently meets every other month at various locations in town including member homes, restaurants, and community meeting rooms.
Activities include our annual Recognition Tea; Student Awards Tea; Christmas in the Parlor with other DAR chapters and our end of the year Potluck.
In addition, each year we have informative programs with subjects of interest to our members.
Our Chapter is proud to be a part of  the DAR Good Citizen contest. Each year a High School Senior from Yucca Valley High School is chosen for this distinction.   In addition, we honor four 8th graders from our community for the DAR Good Citizenship award.
This year several of our members participated in " Constitution Week " and " Bells Across America " at our local Elementary Schools. In addition we gave lessons on the Pledge of Alliegance and the American Flag to local first graders.
We are also involved in several philranthopies including :
"Dimes for Seimes," which raises funds for the Seimes microfilm center at our national headquarters; "Pennies for Pines," to aid in the restoration of California's wild areas; and the "Labels for Education program," which aids DAR schools to purchase much needed items
