Meetings

The Society holds its monthly meeting on the third Tuesday of the month from 1-3 PM in the Tejon Founders Room of the Beale Memorial Library, 701 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield. Society business is discussed, followed by a program of general genealogical interest.  Outside speakers are invited as well as members who have special knowledge of a topic.  A few meetings may be held in other locations and one or two social events are held per year.  The meetings and social events provide opportunities for members to connect with other experienced researchers to discuss methods and techniques to over come obstacles so that you may  advance your research.

•   Feb 21–  "James Fontaine, the Fighting Huguenot" by Dale Stewart. Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   Mar 20 -- "Italians of Kern County" by Donna T. Weeks, and "Lessons on Writing County Historical History". Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   Apr 17 -- "1940 CENSUS" by KCGS Member Judy Knox. Learn about the just released 1940 Federal Census and how to research it. Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   May 15 --"Conservation Corps and WPA" by Dee & Dahleen and Lynda Finch. The Archival Program originally scheduled for this meeting had to be temporarily put on hold.
•   Jun 19 --"SUMMER POTLUCK", Members will be emailed information.
•   Jul 17 -- "ANNUAL ICE CREAM SOCIAL" at Rosemary's Ice Cream, 2733 F Street, Bakersfield at 1:15PM.
•  Aug 21 --  "Masonic History" by Kay Keith. Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   Sep 18 -- "Germans from Russia" by KCGS Member. Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   Oct 16 -- "YOUR FAMILY HISTORY - How to do an E-Book" by Dr Nick Syder, PHD, University of Illinois. Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   Nov 13 -- (Note: This is the second Tuesday of the month) Beale Memorial Library, Tejon Room, 2nd Floor, 1:00PM.
•   Dec 18 --  -- "KCGS  CHRISTMAS POTLUCK"; Beale Memorial Library Auditorium. Setup at 12 noon. Watch for an email to members.
