Linares Chapter
Daughters of the American Rvolution

San Diego, California

Welcome to San Diego and DAR

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, NSDAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.  Its members descend from patriots of the American Revolution, with chapters located in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as other countries, such as Australia, Canada, France, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy and Spain.

The California State Society, CSSDAR, organized in 1891, is comprised of approximately 8,200 women in 115 chapters across the state.  The Linares Chapter was organized in San Diego on December 13, 1934.  It is named for Salvatore Ignacio Linares who was born on December 25, 1775, in Santa Catherine near Warner Springs, California.  Salvatore was the first baby born in Alta California to a Spanish couple who had come with Captain Juan Bautista de Anza.

Our chapter works with local schools to support Junior ROTC, DAR Scholarship contests, American History essay contests, and DAR Good Citizens awards.  We also contribute to the support of Crossnore School in North Carolina, the DAR Museum and DAR Library in Washington D.C., the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego as well as participate in various events in support of our veterans and men and women in military service to our country.

Membership in the DAR provides many opportunities to cherish our American Heritage, to preserve family and local histories, to promote the celebration of our national holidays, to support our national defense, and to form friendships with others who share our love of God, Home, and Country.

For membership information, please email us with your contact information and our Membership Chairman will be delighted to provide detailed information.
