Bio of our workshop speaker:
Archivist Bill Doty, hails from Kansas City,
is a graduate of the University of Kansas’ William Allen White School of
Journalism with double majors in broadcasting and communications -- and has,
since, completed graduate-level studies in History. Unlike many who receive appointments to the
National Archives fresh out of graduate school, Bill became an archivist
after former lives: as a Field Editor for the legendary New York publisher
Charles Scribners Sons (Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe) – and,
then for many years as Production Publicity Director for John Kluge’s
Metromedia Producers Corporation in Hollywood.
As the National Archives is the custodian of
both our official, national history and our family histories as well, Bill is
an eleventh generation descendant of Edward Doty the last signer of the
Mayflower Compact -- the latest of Bill’s
four primary ancestral lines arrived in 1643.
