Russell Murane, 69
Retired police officer
Russell Murane, a police officer for the Merced Police Department for 30 years,
died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital. He was 69.
Mr. Murane was born March 27, 1924 in Los Angeles. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of
World War II. He retired from the police department as a juvenile police
officer.
According to his family, he loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, woodworking
and animals. He was also a ham radio operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Murane and Clara Beck Murane.
Survivors include his wife, Arretta Murane of Merced; three daughters, Janice
Zimmerman and Debra Murane, both of Merced, and Lesley Murane of Manteca, two
sisters, Phyllis Crowell of Salem, Ore. And Frances Tracewell of Corvallis,
Ore., and a brother, Ford Murane of Merced.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral
Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church.
Inurnment will be private.
