Teacher

Dorothy Elizabeth Olives, a long time resident of Atwater, died Saturday in Merced.

Mrs. Olives was born in Merced on November 29, 1913. She attended school in Mariposa and Merced. She graduated from Fresno state College and received her teaching credential. She taught for one year in Madera and then for 31 years for the Winton School District.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Livingston, California Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma International.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Olives Sr., of Atwater; one daughter, Dorothy McConnell of Hatch, New Mexico; one son, Leonard Olives Jr., of Modesto; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater. The Rev. John Motz and the Rev. William Sanford will officiate. Burial will follow at Merced District Cemetery.
