Phillip Lee Sheridan
Philip Lee Sheridan a resident of Atwater for 33 years died Wednesday in Merced.
He was 70.
He was born July 26, 1931 in Decatur, Ill.
He retired from the Air Force after 23 years. He worked for Child Protective
Services as a Probation Officer for 18 years, a counselor at Youth City of
America, an Ombudsmen and a Gideon. He served in many offices as a member of the
Odd Fellows Lodge, and as a Director of the Gilroy Children’s Home for several
years. He was a lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7792 of
Winton. He was in the Air Force at the time of the Korean Conflict and actively
served in the Vietnam War.
Phil was ab avid collector of many things and a large variety of interests. He
loved being around people and helping whenever possible. He was the kind of man
people depended on and turned to for advice and help. He was a devoted Father
and Husband, he will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 48 yrs, Paula Sheridan of Atwater; his sons,
Phillip Sheridan of Merced and Roger Sheridan of San Jose, CA.; Patty & Allen
Hanly of Coarsegold, CA.; one grandson Joshua Hanly of Newport Beach, CA.; his
mother Bernadine Sheridan of Mattoon, Ill.; his brother and sister in-law,
Robert and Velma Sheridan of Decatur, Ill.; his sister and brother in-law,
Louise and jess Daniels of New Albany, Ind.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 25, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at Stratford Wvans
Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel. Burial
will be Thursday, Feb. 28, 1:00 p.m. at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
Conducting services will be Dr. Bill Stephens, Pastor John Boykin of Odd Fellows
Lodge and Military Honors by Merced County VFW Honor Guard.
