Rebecca M. Granger

Rebecca (Becky) Granger, passed away at a local rehabilitation hospital on
November 8, 2002 after a lengthy battle against cancer and heart disease.
She was born in Alabama, grew up in Kennett, Missouri, and married husband James
on August 14, 1955. She is survived by her husband, James; son Charles, both of
Atwater; and daughter Saundra of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. In addition, 2 brothers,
Curtis and Lloyd, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren survive her. A
sister, Jeanette, preceded her in death.
Becky will be long remembered for her many contributions, community services,
and activities in the local area. She was treasurer of the Merced County Women's
Bowling Association, inducted into the MAWBA Hall of Fame in 2001, Founder and
Chairman of the Castle Air Force Base Officers Wives Mah Jongg group, secretary
of several Atwater and Merced bowling leagues. She served as President of the
Atwater Chamber of Commerce, Manager of Fidelity Savings and Loan of Atwater,
President of Soroptimist International of Atwater and a faithful volunteer of
Castle Air Museum Bingo. She was a founding partner of Bear Creek Travel, Inc.
of Merced, a member of the Atwater BPW club, and a life member of both the
Castle Air Museum Foundation and the Merced County Genealogical Society.
Her hobbies include bowling, sewing and world travel, with a particular fondness
for cruising. She was an accomplished quilter, having hand stitched in excess of
30 quilts, most given to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Becky will be cremated and her ashes scattered at a later date. She requested
there be no memorial services. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson
Family Funeral Chapel. Any remembrances should be made to the American Cancer
Society and the American Heart Association.
