Helen Green
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Mission Chapel of
Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home for Helen Green, 78, who died Monday at a local
hospital. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mrs. Green was born in Fort Collins, Colo. on May 9, 1910. She moved to Merced
at less than two years of age, graduated from Merced Union High School in 1928.
She was employed as a secretary at Simonson and Harrel Abstract Co. and later
with H. J. Baker Real Estate.
During World War II she served as a grey lady at Castle AFB, and since then had
been involved with the Hospital Assistance League, American Red Cross, the
Merced Antiques Study Group, and as an Angel on Wheels for the American Cancer
Society. She was a charter member of the Merced County Historical Society and a
founder of the Merced Genealogy Club.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest M. Green of Merced; a daughter, Carol
Virginia Rhodes of Arlington, Va.; a son, Donald Edwin Green of Merced; and a
granddaughter.
The family requests donations tot he American Heart Association. Friends may
call at the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn today from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
