index please note: If you find your research interest in the Local History Book Index, check the actual book index on the digital archives page for the county that the book title can be found in. Alberta Online Digital Archives Occasionally the index has every name that can be found in the publication and you will require the page number from the actual index to look up the name or have a lookup volunteer look it up for you. Then select the lookup site for your county to see if a volunteer is available at the Lookup Volunteers Site!! |

| Local History Books - An Index to Alberta Local History Book Indexes - This Alberta GenWeb project is fast growing in popularity. Over 300 local history book indexes are online encompassing over 222,205 names. There are literally hundreds of these books about Alberta communities with many thousands of personal and family histories. These histories often include the names of all family members, dates and places of birth, places of origin, maiden names, marriages, etc. giving the genealogist an invaluable resource. Use the Digital Archives Search Engine at the top of this page! If you have an Alberta Local History Book and are willing to donate the index to, or do lookups for the project, I would love to hear from you!! Please check the alphabetical listings of the books to see if the title is listed and whether or not the index has been received. Local History Books by Title - Thank you to all of those who have contributed indexes to the project - it would not have progressed this far this quickly without your help! And a special thanks to Brian and Shirley who have, by far, spent the most time searching out and sending indexes! There are still some local history books for sale about the province.
