(Unknown
School)
about 7 miles outside of Mannville, Alberta.
It is on a farm and has not been used as a school for many years. My
mother attended there and she was born in 1908. She rode to
the school on a horse and I remember her telling how she had to start
the fire in the school so had to be there early.

Arbordale
North of Lacombe
My Grandmother used to teach at two, one room schoolhouses in the area
somewhere between the 30's and the 50's. One was called Arbordale? and
the other was Westbranch, both a few miles north of Lacombe. We found
the Arbordale School (name as remembered by my 80 yr. old father) which
is the school he attended just a mile north of his parents farm. It is
in bad shape and appears abandoned for the past 30 or so years.

Garden
Plains? (SD 2941)
Garden Plains, near Scappa
This is a family photo of what appears to be a school house. The family
lived in Garden Plains near Scappa, Alberta. We believe it may be the
school house in Garden Plains. (SD 2941) The family surname was Beyer.
I do not have any other information about this picture but thought
someone in Alberta might identify it. If you have anyone who might
recognize this building I would appreciate it.

South Wapiti
Here's a couple of photos I took last Christmas Eve of the old school
house in South Wapiti / Alberta. SW is is an old (very small and
obscure) community south of Grande Prairie that's still populated
mostly by families of the original pioneers. I believe it was - if not
the last - one of the very last one room school houses to close. I and
I believe my little brother Dale were in the last class to attend here.
