ENUMERATORS

Enumerators remuneration was set by the Minister of Agriculture at a
rate that was sufficiently liberal to enable a diligent enumerator to earn the
maximum of $3 per day which may be paid under the ACT. Based on:

                  For each living person 5
                  For each death 5
                  For each farm 25
                  For each factory 30

In rural parts an extra $1.50 per day for horse hire was made.

In most parts of Canada the rate of $3 per day was adopted, with an
allowance for travelling expences. In British Columbia, where wages are higher
than in any other part of the country, the maximum allowance to enumerators was
made $8.50 per day.
