Electorates
5. For the returning the number of members of the Legislative Assembly
of the Province of British Columbia fixed by the "Constitution Act," there
shall be and there are hereby created and established the following Electoral
Districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be those hereinafter
described and defined in the following sub-sections, and which districts shall
severally return to the Assembly the number of members prescribed by the said
sub-sections, that is to say--
Top
WESTMINSTER ELECTORAL, DISTRICT
(1.) All that tract of land contained within the following boundaries,
viz:-
Commencing at the point of intersection of the 49th parallel of latitude
with the Straits of Georgia, being the south-west corner of section 3,
township 5, New Westminster District; thence due east along said parallel of
latitude to the south-east corner of section 5, township 28, New Westminster
District; thence due north on a right line to its intersection with the
parallel of latitude which passes through the centre of the town of Lytton;
thence due west along said parallel of latitude to its intersection with the
eastern boundary of Comox Electoral District; thence following the eastern
boundary of Comox Electoral District and down the centre of the channel of
Jervis Inlet and Malaspina Strait to a point midway between Scotch Fir Point
and Hardy Island; thence southerly to a point in mid-channel of Malaspina
Strait, opposite the southern extremity of Texada Island; thence south-easterly
to the point of commencement, other than and except those portions of the said
district next hereinafter defined as "New Westminster City Electoral District,"
and "Vancouver City Electoral District," respectively, shall constitute the
Electoral District of Westminster, and shall be divided into four Ridings, as
follows, each of which shall return one member, viz:-
Riding of Delta
Shall comprise all those lands contained within the limits of the
Municipalities of Delta, Surrey, and Langley, together with the belt of land
which lies between the southern boundary of the Municipality of Langley and
the 49th parallel of latitude, and also including Barnstone Island and McMillan
Islands.
Riding of Chilliwack
Shall comprise all the land in the Westminster Electoral District which
lies to the south of the Fraser River and to the east of the western boundary
of the Municipality of Matsqui.
Riding of Dewdney
Shall comprise all the land situated within the Electoral District of
Westminster which lies to the north of the Fraser River and to the east of the
eastern boundary of the Municipality of Burnaby and of the east shore of the
North Arm of Burrard Inlet, and of a line drawn from the head of the said
North Arm of Burrard Inlet due north to the northern boundary of Westminster
Electoral District, and including all the islands in the Fraser River adjacent
to said Riding and not included in any other Riding.
Riding of Richmond
Shall comprise all the lands within the Electoral District of West-
minster which are not included in any other Riding.

NEW WESTMINSTER CITY ELECTORAL, DISTRICT
(2.) That tract of land comprised within the municipal limits of the City
of New Westminster, as defined below, viz:-
Commencing at a point on the right bank of the North Arm of the Fraser
River, and in the centre of the street which is the south-west boundary of
suburban block nine (9), as shown on the map of the Suburban lots of New
Westminster City, British Columbia; thence north-westerly along the centre of
the street which forms the westerly boundary of suburban blocks nine (9) and
twelve (12) to the centre of the street which forms the northerly boundary of
suburban lot twelve (12); thence in a north-easterly direction along the centre
of the street which forins the northeriv boundary of suburban blocks twelve
(12), fourteen (14), and four (4), and its production to its intersection with
the Brunette River; thence in a southerly direction following the right bank of
the Brunette River to a point where the prolongation in a northerly direction
of the easterly boundary of suburban lot 7, block 8, would intersect the said
right bank of the Brunette River; thence in a southerly direction along the
said prolongation and the easterly boundary of said lot 7, block 8, to the
right bank of the Fraser River: thence southerly along a prolongation of said
easterly boundary of said lot 7, block 8, to a point being 350 feet below high
water mark; thence following a line parallel to the shore line of said right
bank of Fraser River, and being 350 feet below high water mark, to a point 350
feet below high water mark, and on the production southerly of the centre of
the street forming the westerly boundary of suburban blocks nine (9) and twelve
(12); thence in a north-westerly direction to place of beginning. Also, all
that other piece or tract of land which may be described as follows:- Beginning
at a point at which the west line of lot 4, Group 2, New Westminster District,
produced northerly intersects the southern boundary of the City of New
Westminster, and thence southwardly along the said west line of lot 4 produced,
and the said west line of lot 4, thirty-three chains, more or less, to a point
on the said west line of lot 4, distant three chains frorn the southern shore
of the Fraser River; thence eastwardly and at right angles to the said west
line of lot 4 thirty chains, more or less, to a point on the east line of lot
2, group 2; thence northwardly along the said east line of lot 2 to the
southern shore of the Fraser River; thence westwardly along the said shore line
of the Fraser River to a post on the west line of said lot 2; thence
northwardly along the west line of the said lot 2 and the west line of the said
lot 2 produced, thirty-three chains, more or less, to intersection of the
southern boundary of the City of New Westminster; thence westwardly along the
southern boundary of the City of New Westminster to the place of beginning.
Also, that portion of the easterly end of Lulu Island known and described as a
Government Reserve; also, an island in the North Arm of the Fraser River, lying
between Lulu Island and the City of New Westminster, known and described as
Poplar Island, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be designated "New
Westminster City Electoral Dictrict," and return one member.

VANCOUVER CITY ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(3) That tract of land comprised within the Municipal limits of the
City of Vancouver, as defined below, viz:-
Commencing at low water mark on the south shore of Burrard Inlet at a
point where the easterly boundary of Lot number 184, in New Westminster
District, produced northerly, would intersect said low water mark; thence
southerly along said produced boundary and along said easterly boundary of said
Lot, and also along the easterly boundary of Lot 264A, in said New Westminster
District, to a point where it would be intersected by the southerly boundary of
said Lot 264A produced easterly; thence westerly along said produced line and
along said southerly boundary of said Lot 264A to the south-westerly corner of
said Lot; thence westerly along the centre of the street between Blocks numbers
97 and 98 on the one side, and Blocks numbers 95 and 96 on the other, as shown
in a registered plan of subdivision of Lot number 301 in said District of New
Westminster; thence still westerly along the centre of the street between
Blocks numbers 54, 55, and 56 on the one side, and Blocks numbers 57, 58, and
59 on the other side, according to a registered plan of a subdivision of the
southerly half of Lot number 302 in said New Westminster District; thence
continuing due west to Campbell Street, the westerly boundary of the Government
town plot on English Bay; thence northerly along the line centre of Campbell
Street to the low water mark of said English Bay; thence along the line of the
said low water mark to False Creek; thence across the mouth of False Creek, and
along the line of low water mark, in front of Lot 185, in New Westminster
District, and the Government Military Reserve to the First Narrows; and thence
along the line of the low water mark, on the south sbore of Burrard Inlet, to
the place of beginning, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be
designated "Vancouver City Electoral District," and return three members.

YALE ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(4.) All that tract of land contained within the following boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at a point on the 49th parallel of latitude, being the
south-east corner of Westminster Electoral District; thence due east along
said parallel of latitude to a point on the 118th meridian of west longitude;
thence due north along said meridian to a point about ten miles distant from
the Columbia River; thence northerly in a course parallel to the general course
of the Columbia River and distant from it about ten miles, following the summit
of the mountains dividing the waters running into the Columbia River from those
flowing to the west, to a point on the 52nd parallel of latitude; thence due
west along said parallel to its intersection with the meridian passing through
the mouth of Tranquille River, Kamloops Lake; thence due south along said
meridian to a point about twelve miles north of the mouth of the said
Tranquille River; thence west to the 114th-mile post on the Yale-Cariboo Waggon
Road; thence south-westerly on a right line to a point on the Fraser River just
north of Watkinson's Ranch, on the east boundary of Lillooet Electoral
District; thence south on a right line following the eastern boundary, in part,
of Lillooet Electoral District and the eastern boundary of Westminster
Electoral District to the place of commencement, shall constitute one Electoral
District, to be designated "Yale Electoral District," and shall be divided into
three Ridings as follows, each of which shall return one member, viz:-
West Riding of Yale District
All that tract of land situated within the Electoral District of Yale
which lies to the west and south of the following line, viz:-
Commencing at a point on thr northern boundary of the Electoral District
of Yale one mile east of Copper Creek; thence in a southerly direction parallel
to the said creek to a point on the north bank of Kamloops Lake; thence
crossing said lake to a point on the south side thereof, situated two miles
east of the mouth of Three-Mile Creek; thence in a southerly direction to a
point three miles west of the foot of Nicola Lake; thence in a southerly
direction to a point one mile west of Aspen Grove; thence in a southerly
direction to a point about two miles north-west of Princeton; thence due east
to the intersection of the 120th meridian; thence due south along said meridian
to the 49th parallel.
East Riding of Yale District
All that tract of land situated in the said District which lies to the
east and south of the following line, viz:-
Commencing at the point of intersection of the 49th parallel with the
120th meridian; thence due north along said meridian to Trepanege River; thence
north-easterly on a right line to a point two miles east of the mouth of Salmon
River, on Shuswap Lake; thence due east to the western boundary of Kootenay
District.
North Riding of Yale District
All the remaining tract of land within the said District which is not
included in the East and West Ridings as above Constituted and defined.

LILLOOET ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(5.) That tract of land situated within the following boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at the north-east Corner of Westminster Electoral District;
thence north to a point on the Fraser River just north of Watkinson's Ranch;
thence north-easterly to the 114th mile post, on the Yale-Cariboo Waggon Road;
thence due east to the intersection of a meridian which passes through the
mouth of Tranquille River; thence due north along said meridian to its
intersection with the 52nd parallel of latitude; thence due west along said
parallel of latitude to the 125th meridian; thence due south along said
meridian to the 51st parallel of latitude; thence due east along said parallel
to the 124th meridian; thence due south following said meridian along the
eastern boundary of Comox Electoral District to the north-west Corner of
Westminster Electoral District; thence due east along the northern boundary of
Westminster Electoral District to the point of commencement, shall constitute
one Electoral District, to be designated "Lillooet Electoral District," and
shall be divided into two Ridings as follows, each of which shall return one
member, viz:-
East Riding, Lillooet
All that tract of land situated in the Electoral which lies to the east of
a line described as follows:-
Commencing at a point on the south-east boundary of said district, distant
ten miles from the Fraser River; thence in a northerly direction parallel to
the general course of the Fraser River to the 51st parallel of latitude; thence
westerly along said parallel of latitude (crossing the Lillooet and Alexandria
Waggon Road at the 35th-mile post) to the Fraser River; thence following the
Fraser River to the northern boundary of the said district.
West Riding of Lillooet District
All the remaining portion of Lillooet Electoral District which is not
embraced by the East Riding of said district as above constituted and defined.

WEST KOOTENAY ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(6.) All that tract of land bounded on the west by the eastern boundary of
Yale District, up to the north-eastern corner thereof, and thence by a line
(being also the south-eastcrn boundary of Cariboo Electoral District) following
the general course of the Columbia River, and distant from it about ten miles,
to the intersection of Canoe River, on the east by a line down Canoe River to
the Columbia River; thence in a south-easterly direction to the dividing ridge
of the Selkirk Range of Mountains; thence following said dividing ridge in a
south-easterly direction to the summit of Rogers' Pass; thence in a south-
easterly direction following the watershed nearest the Upper Columbia River to
the 50th parallel of north latitude; thence in a southerly direction following
the watershed nearest and to the westward of the Upper Kootenay and Moyie
Rivers to the 49th parallel of north latitude (being also the western boundary
of East Kootenay Electoral District), and on the south by the International
Boundary Line, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be designated "West
Kootenay Electoral District," and shall be divided into two Ridings, as
follows, each of which shall return one member, viz:-
North Riding of West Kootenay
Shall comprise all that portion of the said District of West Kootenay
which lies to the north and west of a line commencing at the intersection of
the International Boundary Line with the Columbia River; thence northerly
following the said Columbia River to the mouth of the Kootenay River; thence
in a northerly direction to the summit of the mountain range between the Slocan
River and Arrow Lake; thence northerly following the summit of said range to
the 50th parallel of latitude; thence northerly following the summit of the
watershed between Upper Arrow Lake and the Lardo River to a point half-way
between Trout Lake and Kootenay Lake; thence east to the summit of the range
between the Lardo River and Upper Kootenay Lake; thence northerly following the
summit of the watershed between the Lardo River and Duncan River to its
intersection with the east boundary of the said district near the source of
Duncan River.
South Riding of West Kootenay
Shall comprise all that portion of the said district not included in
the North Riding of the said district, as above constituted and defined.

EAST KOOTENAY ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(7.) All that tract of land bounded on the west by the eastern boundary of
West Kootenay Electoral District; on the north by a line (being also the south-
eastern boundary of Cariboo Electoral District) following the general course of
the Columbia River, and distant from it about ten miles, to a point on the
118th meridian, about fifteen miles north-east of the Boat Encampment, and
thence by the 118th meridian (being also the eastern boundary, in part, of
Cariboo Electoral District) to the summit of the Rocky Mountains, the eastern
boundary of the Province; on the east by the said eastern boundary of the
Province; and on the south by the 49th parallel, the southern boundary of the
Province, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be designated "East
Kootenay Electoral District," and return one member.

CARIBOO ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(8.) All that tract of land contained within the following boundaries,
viz:-
Commencing at the point of intersection of the 126th meridian with the
52nd parallel of latitude; thence due east, following said parallel along the
northern boundaries of Lillooet and Yale Electoral Districts, to the north-east
corner of Yale Electoral District; thence north-easterly on a line following
the general course of the Columbia River, and distant from it about ten miles,
to a point on the 118th meridian, about fifteen miles north-east of the Boat
Encampment; thence northerly along the 118th meridian to the summit of the
Rocky Mountains; thence north-westerly, following the summit of the Rocky
Mountains, to the 120th meridian; thence due north along said meridian to the
60th parallel of latitude; thence due west along said parallel to the 126th
meridian; thence due south along said meridian to the point of commencement,
shall constitute one Electoral District, to be designated "Cariboo Electoral
District," and shall return two members.

CASSIAR ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(9.) All that tract of land contained within the following boundaries
viz:-
Commencing at the point of intersection of the north and western
boundaries of the Province; thence due cut along said northern boundary, being
the 60th parallel of latitude, to its intersection with the 126th meridian,
being the north-west corner of Cariboo Electoral District; thence due south,
following said meridian along the western boundary of Cariboo Electoral District,
to the 52nd parallel of latitude; thence due cast along said parallel to the
125th meridian, being the north-west corner of Lillooet Electoral District;
thence due south along said meridian to the 51st parallel of latitude, being
the northern boundary of Comox Electoral District; thence due west along said
northern boundary of Comox, Electoral District to its intersection with the
128th meridian; thence north-westerly to a point west of Cape St. James,
Prevost Island, and distant therefrom about ten miles; thence northerly,
following the general course of the western coast of Queen Charlotte Islands,
to a point opposite Cape Knox; thence north-easterly to Cape Chacon, at the
southerly extremity of Prince of Wales Island; thence northerly along the
western boundary of the Province to the point of commencement, shall constitute
one Electoral District, to be designated "Cassiar Electoral District," and
shall return one member.

VICTORIA CITY ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(10) That tract of land comprised within the municipality of the limits of
the City of Victoria, including all that piece or parcel of land described and
defined m follows:-
Commencing at a point on the shore line of Foul Bay at the southern end of
an accommodation road; thence northerly along the centre of said road to its
intersection with the southern boundary line of section 68; thence easterly
along said boundary line to the south-east corner of section 68; thence
northerly along the eastern boundary lines of sections 68, 74, and 76 to the
south-east corner of section 25; thence westerly along the southern boundary
line of section 25 to the centre of Mount Tolmie Road; thence northerly along
the centre of Mount Tolmie Road to its intersection with the southern boundary
line of section 26; thence westerly along said boundary line to the south-west
corner of section 26; thence northerly along the western boundary lines of
sections 26 and 27 to the north-west corner of section 27; thence westerly
along the southern boundary lines of sections 34 and 42 to the south-west
corner of section 42; thence northerly along the western boundary line of
section 42 to the south-east corner of section 62; thence westerly along the
southern boundary lines of sections 62, 63, and 7 to the intersection of the
southern boundary line of section 7 with the centre of Burnside Road; thence
north-westerly along the centre of Burnside Road to the centre of Harriet Road;
thence southerly along the centre of Harriet Road to Victoria Arm; thence
south-westerly across Victoria Arm to the point where the centre of Arm Street
intersects the southern shore of Victoria Arm; thence southerly along the
centre of Arm Street to the centre of Craigflower Road; thence easterly along
the centre of Craigflower Road to the center of Morgan Road; thence southerly
along the centre of Morgan Road to the north-west corner of section 32; thence
along the western boundary line of section 32 to the shore of Victoria Harbour;
thence south-easterly across the Victoria Harbour to Shoal Point on the Straits
of San Juan De Fuca; thence along the shore line of the Straits of San Juan De
Fuca, including all wharves, jetties, and buildings along said shore line, to
the point of commencement, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be
designated "Victoria City Electoral District," and return four members.

NORTH VICTORIA ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(11.) All that tract of land comprised within North Saanich District, as
defined on the official map of that district now deposited in the Land Office,
Victoria, and designated "North Saanich, 1859," together with Salt Spring,
Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Samuel, Saturna, Tumbo, Moresby, Portland, Prevost,
Narrow, Sidney, and James Islands, and all Islets adjacent thereto not being
comprehended within any other Electoral District, shall constitute one
Electoral District, to be designated "North Victoria Electoral District," and
return one member.

SOUTH VICTORIA ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(12.) All those tracts of land other than and except Victoria City
Electoral District, hereinbefore mentioned, comprised within the Victoria,
Lake, and South Saanich Districts, as defined on the official maps of those
Districts now deposited in the Land Office, Victoria, and which maps are
designated respectively "Victoria District Official Map, 1858," "Lake
District," "South Saanich Official Map, 1859," shall constitute one Electoral
District, to be designated "South Victoria Electoral District," and return one
member.

ESQUIMALT ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(13.) That tract of land comprised within the following boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at a point on the west shore of Saanich Inlet, being the south-
east corner of Shawnigan District; thence due west along the southern boundary
of Shawnigan District and on a line in continuation thereof to its intersection
with the shore line of the west coast of Vancouver Island; thence in an
easterly direction following the shore line of the said island to Maclaughlin
Point, at the entrance to Victoria Harbour, including Race Islands; thence due
cast to the western boundary of South Victoria Electoral District, as
hereinbefore defined; thence following the said western boundary of South
Victoria Electoral District to its intersection with Tod Creek; thence along
the shore line of Tod Creek, Finlayson's Arm, and Saanich Inlet to the place of
commencement, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be designated
"Esquimalt Electoral District," and return two members.

COWICHAN-ALBERNI ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(14.) That tract of land contained within the following boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at a point on the west shore of Saanich Inlet, being the
south-east corner of Shawnigan District; thence in a northerly direction
following the coast line to a point on Stewart Channel, about one mile north
of Horseshoe Bay, being the north-east corner of Chemainus District; thence due
west along the northern boundary of Chemainus District, and on a line in
continuation thereof, to its intersection with the western boundary of the
Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Company's land grant; thence northerly on a right
line to the west end of Cameron Lake; thence north-westerly to the west end of
Horne Lake; thence in a north-westerly direction to the Puntledge River, at the
outlet of Comox Lake; thence west on a right line to the head of Guaquina or
Muchalat Arm; thence along the southern shore of the said Arm to Nootka Sound;
thence following the sinuosities of the west coast of Vancouver Island to the
north-west corner of Esquimalt Electoral District; thence due east along the
north boundary of Esquimalt District to the point of commencement, together
with and including Flores Island, Vargas Island, Meares Island, Tzaartoos
Island, Deer Island, and all the islands in and between Clayoquot and Barclay
Sounds, and all the islands adjacent thereto, shall constitute one Electoral
District, to be designated "Cowichan-Alberni Electoral District," and return
two members.

NANAIMO CITY ELECTORAL DISTRICT
15.) That tract of land comprised within the municipality of the limits of
the City of Nanaimo, viz:--
Commencing at the north-east corner of the Indian Reserve at Nanaimo
Harbour; thence in a northerly direction following the sinuosities of the shore
line, to the south-east corner of Millstone River Bridge; thence to the north-
east corner of said bridge; thence following the shore line in a northerly
direction to the north-east corner of Lot twenty-four (24), Block two (II.), as
shown on the Official Map of Newcastle Town; thence in a westerly direction
straight along the northern boundaries of Blocks one (1) and two (II.),
for a distance of about fifteen (15) chains and fifty (50) links; thence at
right-angles, in a southerly direction, straight to the left bank of Millstone
River; thence following said left bank, in a westerly direction, to a point
opposite the north-west corner of Lot eleven (11), Block forty-seven (XLVII.),
Nanaimo Town, as shown upon the map deposited in the Land Registry Office,
Victoria, on the 30th day of November, 1868; thence crossing said river to the
north-west corner of Lot eleven (11), Block forty-seven (XLVII.); thence in a
south-westerly direction, along the western boundaries of Lots eleven (11), ten
(10), nine (9), eight (8), seven (7), six (6), five (5), and three (3), Block
forty-seven (XLVII.), to the Comox Road; thence in a north-westerly direction,
along the north side of said road for a distance of about twenty (20) chains,
to a point opposite the north-west corner of Lot three (3), Block T, on the
said map; thence south-westerly, along the western boundaries of Lots three
(3), two (2), and one (1), Block T; Lots two (2) and one (1), Block S; Lots
four (4), three (3), and one (1), Block R; Lots four (4), three (3), two (2),
and one (1), Block Q; Lots five (5), four (4), three (3), two (2), and one (1),
Block P, crosssing Campbell, Wentworth, Fitzwilliam, and Franklyn Streets;
thence in a south-easterly direction, crossing Albert Street and running along
the southern boundaries of Lots four (4), three (3), two (2), and one (1),
Block O; Lots four (4), three (3), two (2), and one (1), Block N, and also
crossing Hecate Street; thence in a southerly direction, crossing Victoria and
Nicol Streets, to the south-west corner of Lot one (1), Block D; thence along
the southern boundary of Lot one (1), Block D, and Lot one (1), Block E,
crossing Haliburton Street to the south-east corner of the said Lot one (1),
Block E; thence in a northerly direction, along the eastern boundaries of said
Lot one (1), Block E, and Lots four (4), three (3), two (2), and one (1), Block
B, crossing Needham Street, being also the western boundary of said Indian
Reserve; thence easterly, along the northern boundary of said Indian Reserve,
to the point of commencement.
Also, commencing at the point in Lot three (3), Block N, where the
Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway enters the city; thence in a westerly direction
along the south side of the said railway for a distance of twenty-one (21)
chains, more or less; thence in an easterly direction to a point twenty-one
(21) chains, more or less, from the south-east corner of Lot one (1), Block N,
parallel with the east side of Victoria Road; thence in an easterly direction,
crossing Nicol Street to the south-west comer of Lot one (1), Block D, and
running along the southern boundaries of Lots one (1) and thirteen (13), Block
D, crossing Haliburton Street to the south-west corner of Lot two (2), Block E,
and running along the southern boundaries of Lots two (2), seven (7), and
twelve (12); thence along the eastern boundaries of Lots twelve (12), thirteen
(13), fourteen (14), fifteen (15), sixteen (16), seventeen (17), eighteen (18),
nineteen (19), twenty (20), and twenty-one (21), Block E, aball constitute one
Electoral District, to be designated "Nanaimo City Electoral District," and
return one member.

NORTH NANAIMO ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(16.) That tract of land contained within the following boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at a point on the east coast of Vancouver Island, being the
north-east corner of the Municipality of the City of Nanaimo; thence due west
on a right line to the eastern boundary of Cowichan Electoral District; thence
north along the eastern boundary of said district to the west end of Cameron
Lake; thence north-westerly along the north-easterly boundary of Cowichan
Electoral District to Horne Lake; thence following the south shore of Horne
Lake to its outlet at Qualicum River; thence down said river to its mouth;
thence south-easterly, following the coast line, to the point of commencement;
together with Texada Island, Lasquiti Island, and any other smalls islands
adjacent thereto not included in any other Electoral District, shall constitute
one Electoral District, to be designated "North Nanaimo Electoral District,"
and return one member.

SOUTH NANAIMO ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(17.) That tract of land, other than and except Nanaimo City Electoral
District hereinbefore described, contained within the under-mentioned
boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at a point on the east coast of Vancouver Island, being the
north-east corner of the Municipality of the City of Nanaimo; thence due west
on a right line to the eastern boundary of Cowichan Electoral District; thence
southerly along the eastern boundary of Cowichan Electoral District to its
intersection with the western boundary line of the Esquimalt and Nanaimo
Railway Company's land grant; thence due east along the northern boundary of
Cowichan Electoral District to a point on the east coast of Vancouver Island,
being the north-east corner of Chemainus District; thence northerly, following
the coast line, to the point of commencement; including Gabriola, DeCourcy,
Valdes, Thetis, Kuper, and Reid Islands, and other small islands adjacent
thereto and not included in any other Electoral District, shall constitute one
Electoral District, to be designated "South Nanaimo District," and return one
member.

COMOX ELECTORAL DISTRICT
(18.) That tract of land contained within the following boundaries, viz:-
Commencing at the mouth of the Qualicum River; thence following that river
to Horne Lake; thence along the north shore of Horne Lake to the north-eastern
boundary of Cowichan Electoral District; thence in a north-westerly and
westerly direction, following the easterly and north boundary of Cowichan
Electoral District to the head of Muchalat Arm; thence along the northerly
shore of said Arm to Nootka Sound; thence following the sinuosities of the west
coast of Vncouver Island in a northerly direction to Cape Scott; thence
north-easterly on a right line to the point of intersection of the 128th
meridan with the 51st parrallel of latitude; thence due east along said
parallel of latitude to the 124th meridian; thence due south along said meridan
to its intersection with Jervis Inlet; thence on a line following the centre of
the channel down Jervis Inlet to a point; thence on a line following the centre
of the channel down Jervis Inlet to a point opposite Scotch Fir Pine, Malaspina
Strait; thence on a line following the centre of the channel between Texada
Island and the Mainland to the southern end of Harwood Island; thence to the
south-east end of Hornby Island; thence to the point of commencement at the
mouth of Qualicum River, and including all the islands within and adjacent to
the said boundary lines, shall constitute one Electoral District, to be
designated "Comox Electoral District," and return one member. 1894, c. 26, s. 2.
(6.) For greater certainty as to the boundaries of the said Electoral
Districts, reference shall be had to two certain maps or plans of the Mainland
of British Columbia and Vancouver Island, respectively, together with the
several islands and dependencies thereof, respectively, which are deposited in
the Land Office at Victoria, and signed by the Speaker of the Legislative
Assembly and the Provincial Secretary, as showing and delineating the
boundaries of the said Electoral Districts.1894, c. 26, s. 3.
