WW 1 Victoria Cross Winners![]() Lieutenant-colonel Francis Alexander Caron Scrimger 1880.81~1937 Canadian Army Medical Corps
Francis Scrimger was born in Montreal, Quebec on February 7th 1880 or 81. He received his MD. from McGill University in 1905. Captain Scrimger was the medical officer with the 14th Battalion , 3rd Brigade , 1st Canadian Division. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions at second battle of Ypres. Citation On the afternoon of 25th April, 1915 in the neighborhood of Ypres, when in charge of an advanced dressing station in farm buildings which were being heavily shelled by the enemy, he directed under heavy fire the removal of wounded, and he himself carried a severely wounded Officer out of a stable in search of a place of greater safety. When he was unable alone to carry this Officer further, he remained with him under fire until help could be obtained. During the very heavy fighting between 22nd and 25th April, Captain Scrimger Displayed continuously day and night the greatest devotion to duty among the wounded at the front. The London Gazette June 22nd 1915.
