Will of John J. St. John of Torbay
Right Rev. John J. St. John deceased
Holy Trinity Presbytery Torbay Newfoundland Sept. 6th 1917. This is the last will and Testament of me, John J. St. John parish priest of Torbay. 1st. I hereby decree that whatsoever property I may be in possession of at my death shall be sold to the best advantage that is to say:- my horse, carriage and harness; my cow, carts & farm implements: my household furniture & personal effects: my books & pictures and all my belongings shall be sold by public auction, or otherwise as my executor may decide, and I appoint as my executor my most esteemed friend, Rt. Rev. Monsignor Reardon P.P. Placentia. 2nd. The proceeds of the sale shall be employed to pay my personal debts and the residue, after such debts shall have been paid, I give and bequeath to my housekeeper, Mary MacDonald, it she survives me. If not, I give & bequeath the said residue to my niece, Mary St. John. 3rd. Whatever money I may die possessed of, and the dues and pew rents assessing to me at the time of my death from my parish I give & bequeath to my said niece, Mary St. John. 4th. I give and bequeath to my said executor, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Reardon all my wines & whiskey. In witness hereof I now set my seal and hand this sixth day of September in the year of Grace one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, [1917.] Signature [signed] John J. St. John P.P. [L.S].
