Will of Alfred Squires


This is the last Will and Testament of me Alfred Squires of Saint Philips in the District of St. John's West in the Island of Newfoundland farmer made this twenty ninth day of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and Sixteen.

I hereby revoke all Wills made by me at any time heretofore. I appoint my wife Grace Squires to be my Executrix and direct that all my debts and Funeral Expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

I give and bequeath unto each of my five daughters the sum of fifty cents To my two sons William Alfred and Joseph Muggah, I give devise and bequeath as a joint possession my fishing property which is situated on the Western Point of St Philip's aforesaid The remaining portion of my property consisting of all my farm lands and gardens wheresoever situated together with the dwelling house barns and outhouses thereon situated as also all other uncultivated lands by me held in possession at this present time and all other properties not herein specified that I may die possessed of or be entitled to I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Grace Squires and to my two sons William Alfred Squires and Joseph Muggah Squires to be held and enjoyed by them together with all privileges that may be derived therefrom as a joint possession so that in the event of the decease of this my wife or of the decease of either of these my sons aforesaid without issue the whole property then remaining shall remain in the full possession of the surviving heir or heirs

Should it however become necessary in the course of events that any part or portion of this my property should need to be sold or conveyed in order to provide better nourishment or proper support and maintenance for either or all of these my heirs then such sale or conveyance may be made and executed at any time with the full consent of each and all the heirs then living.


The testator, Alfred Squires, having first had this document read over to him and explained in our presence declared it to be his last Will and testament and affixed his mark thereto in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses this 29th day of March A.D. 1916.
