Richard Quick deceased.
This is the last will and testament of me Richard Quick of the Parish of Hennock in the County of Devon Carpenter made and published this sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty nine as follows. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Cole all my household goods & furniture that I may be possessed of at the time of my death. I give devise & bequeath unto my son John Quick during his life & after his death to my daughter Elizabeth Cole during her natural life & from & after her death unto my grandson John Quick Cole, son of my daughter Elizabeth Cole & to his heirs & assigns for ever all that my estate or plantation, dwelling house, stages, flakes, gardens and their respective appurtenances thereto belonging situate and lying in Quitivity near St. Johnís Newfoundland North America, And I hereby subject and charge all my said plantation dwelling houses stages flakes gardens & premises above devised to & with the payment of the undermentioned annuities- that is to say that my son John Quick shall pay yearly and every year during the natural lives of my three sisters Mary Warren, Sarah Toms and Patty Sercome the sum of one pound each, and to my daughter Elizabeth Cole the sum of two pounds yearly and every year during the life of my son, and should my daughter outlive my three sisters above named she shall receive their part or share respectively as they die. And should my daughter Elizabeth Cole become possessed of the said property she shall continue to pay my three sisters herein named their respective annuities of one pound each yearly every year as long as they shall live. And I also hereby direct that when my grandson John quick Cole shall be in possession of the said premises herein devised he shall also pay my said three sisters their respective annuities of one pound each, and also one pound each to all his sisters then living & to continue the same yearly and every year during their respective natural lives. And all other my personal & testamentary estate monies & effects I give & bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Cole subject to the payment thereout of all my just debts, funeral & testamentary charges & expences & I appoint my said daughter Elizabeth Cole sole executrix of this my last will & testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year first above written. X the mark of Richard Quick. Signed, sealed, declared & published by the above named Richard Quick, as & for his last will & testament in the presence of us who at his request & in his presence & in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto, Thomas Orchard, William Henry Chudleigh.
