In re: EDWARD MERCER. DECEASED.
I, Edward Mercer of Bay Roberts, in the Island of Newfoundland, Master Mariner,
being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this as my
last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills. I hereby appoint my
son, Albert E. Mercer, and John Morgan to be the Executors of my will. I devise
and bequeath to my son, Albert E. Mercer, all the property which I possess
situate and being in the town of Bay Roberts aforesaid as follows:-
Waterside, dwelling house and outhouses, shops, stores and all contents (?) C.E.R.
furniture of dwelling house. I devise and bequeath to my son, Robert S. Mercer,
the sum of $1000.00, and $100.00 to each of his four children. I devise and
bequeath to my daughter, Annie H. Pepper, the sum of $1000.00, and $100.00 to
each of her two children. I also devise and bequeath to Matilda Mercer the sum
of $50.00; to my sister, Mary Ann Belbin, the sum of a $40.00; and to my sister,
Fanny Parsons, the sum of $40.00.
I also devise and bequeath to St. John the
Evangelist Church, Coley's Point, the sum of $100.00 to be devoted to cemetery
purposes; and $100.00 to Central Methodist Church Trustee Board, Bay Roberts, to
be used in the purchase of a Bell for said church or paying off the debt on the
new organ. My pew in St. John the Evangelist Church, Coley's Point, is to go
to my son, Robert S. Mercer. I also devise and bequeath to my son's [Albert E.
Mercer] four children the sum of $100.00 each; and the balance of my money,
after all funeral expenses are paid, is to go to my son, Albert E. Mercer.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at Bay Roberts aforesaid this
29th day of March A. D. 1920. Edward Mercer. Signed published and declared by
the testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us, who in his
presence, and at his request, and in the presence of each other have hereunto
