Know all men by these present that James Roberts Senior of Brigus Conception Bay in the Island of Newfoundland Planter for an in consideration of my Sons Jacob and Joseph Roberts maintaining and clothing me in a decent manner during the remainder of my days and at my death burying me also decently, I give and bequeath unto them all and singular my House and Stage and Flakes, the tow House Gardens and half the Potato Garden – the middle part and water side of the fishing Stage and by these Present do give and bequeath unto them all my right and title in and to the serving as witness my hand and seal at Brigus aforesaid this seventeenth Day of December One Thousand eight hundred and Fifty five.

Of Joseph Roberts of Brigus Conception Bay Fisherman – humbly herewith – That his Father the last James Roberts Senior of Brigus aforesaid Planter died in June 1856 aged about Seventy five years, leaving three sons and two daughters.
He was possessed of property at the time of his death of the value of about fifty pounds currency which he bequeathed by his last Will and Testament hereto annexed to Petitioner and his Brother Jacob, who had wholly maintained Estates for over Twenty Five years. That Petitioner is authorized by his said Brother Jacob with whom he lives to obtain Letters of Administration with the Will annexed to the Estate of their late Father which he therefore prays Your Lordships may be granted to him as in duty bound be.
