Transcriber Notes:

1 This may be John Martin Sr. married to Mary Harriet Pike (Pique), ca. 1870-1875, both residing at Pike Place (Brown's Island), Piper's Hole River.

2. This may be the same E. Power listed in the 1850 Gisbourne Co. List of Employees [NL Gen Web], residing at Black River, near Piper's Hole, P.B. Edward Power may be a paternal uncle of Clara Power, wife of John (Jim) Pike of Baker's Cove (near Garden Cove & North Harbour) Culleton's Strait (near St. Kyran's), Bollard's Town (Muddy Hole) Sound Island, and Bar Haven (Barren Island), P.B.

3 This may be John Hollett Jr., of John Hollett Sr. as listed in various historical sources as residing at Piper's Hole River and Newtown, Sound Island.

4 The surname Moulton as listed here may be a variant of Martin, from Black River-Piper's Hole, although in all probability it may be related to the Moulton family name of Burin, as attested in numerous unpublished parish registers housed at PANL.

5 This may be the same James Hollett, merchant-trader of Sound Island-Black River, P.B., as mentioned in numerous historical references.

6 This is presumably the same Tommy Hollett remembered in Chance Cove and Bellevue unpublished family oral traditions as residing at Rantem. A place name at Rantem called Wheel Barrow Hill is named after an incident there between Johnnie Martin and Tommy Hollett, the former of whom was known to play countless tricks on the latter.

7 This is almost definitely the same William Hollett, son of Richard Hollett and Mary Pike (of John Pique and Catherine Lynch), who subsequently married Lucy Pike (of John Richard (Dickie) Pike & Catherine Lynch), of Tickle Harbour, T.B.. William (Billy) Hollett and his wife both lived at Rantem, and were known to have strong family connections to E. Duff who worked as a telegraph operator there for the Anglo-American Telegraph Co..
