Will of William Spurrell


This is the last will and testament of me William Spurrell, of Island Cove, in the District of Trinity, in the Island of Newfoundland. I appoint my son William John Spurrell to be my executor. I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Spurrell all the money of which I may die possessed, together with my house lands stables and cattle and all other of my possessions to be for her use during her lifetime.

Upon the death of my wife Elizabeth Spurrell I give devise and bequeath unto my son William John Spurrell the dwelling house and its contents the garden at Lobster Cove, the garden on the Point the cabbage garden near the house, the big store house and half the small store house, the stable and cattle, and whatever money may be left belonging to my Estate; my said won William John Spurrell in return for this must support his mother my wife Elizabeth Spurrell during her lifetime as far as she shall need such support.

Upon the death of my said wife Elizabeth Spurrell. I direct that the meadow and garden on the hill, the outside cabbage garden and the meadow and land around my dwelling house be divided between my two sons, Ernest and William John according to measurements made and boundaries marked during my lifetime. One half of the small store I leave to my son Ernest Spurrell after the death of my wife Elizabeth Spurrell. I bequeath my half of the fishing stage and all my fishing gear together with all other of my property not otherwise provided for to my two sons Ernest and William John, to be for their use and for the support of their mother during her lifetime and after her death to be for their own use and support, share and share alike In witness whereof I the said William Spurrell have to this my last will and testament set my name this day of May one thousand, nine hundred and eleven William x Spurrell May 8th 1911 Witness Thomas Wiseman Signed in the presence of us, present at the same time, who at the testators request, in his presence and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses May 8th 1911 witness Thomas Wiseman Jacob Bellows
