Will of John Walsh from Newfoundland will books volume 2 pages 480-481 probate year 1862

In re
          John Walsh deceased.

In the name of God Amen.     I John Walsh Planter of Fleur de Lis in the Island of Newfoundland am sick in body and perfectly sound of mind thanks to Almighty God, do now make my last will and testament, viz. I bequeath to sum of £130. cy (one hundred and thirty pounds cy) now in the hands of Mr. Michael Manning Shopkeeper of St. Johnís Nfld and at interest on security which his of property situate in a new line of road between Water Street and Gower Street on the north & south side &c. (see mortgage) and the sum of three hundred pounds cy at interest in the Union Bank of Nfld in all the sum of four hundred & thirty pounds cy to be divided in ten equal shares to the following persons, viz. Margaret Walsh my lawful wife, Robert Walsh, Ellen Walsh, Ann Walsh, Sarah Louisa Walsh, Margaret Walsh, Mary Ann Walsh & Martina Walsh my lawful children to have and to hold as theirs and should any of my daughters get married the money they receive to be under their own control and management their husband having nothing to do with it John & Thomas Walsh to have one tenth each of the above sum taken from the above mentioned place after my death and deposited in the Bank of England and there to remain at interest until they arrive at the age of twenty one years then they can do as they think best for they are then the sole owners of said sums.     I bequeath to my three sons also viz. Robert Walsh, John Walsh and Thomas Walsh my property situate on the north side of Fleur de Lis and now occupied by me to have and to hold as theirs and jointly one not doing anything in connection with it without the consent of the others.     I appoint John Walsh son of my brother Robert Walsh and now residing at Keels in Bonavista Bay in Nfld to be my executor solely.     The sum of eleven pounds cy & tobacco to the amount of Ten pounds now in my possession to go to pay my small accounts.     John his X mark Walsh. Witness my hand this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one.     John T. Barron of St. Johnís Nfld.     Robert his X mark Walsh.
