Ted's Snack Bar Staff - circa 1955
L to R: Marg Racicot, Elsie Meehan, Shirley Halderney and Anne Steele.
Ted's Snack Bar, was located on Algonquin Street at Landsdowne Avenue. All adults and teens in North Bay during the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s were frequent visitors to this popular meeting place. The french fries and pronto pups were the big menu items. One customer mentioned recently that he and his girl friend would get an order of fries and a pronto put at Ted's and would go across Algonquin to Crawford's for an ice cream dessert. Another customer mentioned that in the days of "souped up" cars the drivers would be sure to rumble past Ted's in the evening to impress the female customers...!
One of the staff above has often mentioned, even in 2004, that a stranger will tell her she is recognized from the days she worked at Ted's.......! She started working at Ted's in 1952 and stayed with the Snack Bar until it moved to O'Brien Street at the bypass in 1974.
