He was a son to the late Stewart and Olive (MacPherson) Boutilier, Dartmouth. He attended Dartmouth schools and after graduation joined the R.C.A.F. and retired after 37 years. He then worked for the Federal Public Service for a number of years. He had a special love for the north, particularly the Yukon, where he loved to fish and hunt and also met his wife, Georgette Lavergne. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ernest, with whom she shared an active life of "cottaging", traveling and may fun-filled years as an avid curler of the Mayflower Curling Club. She was a dedicated member of the congregation of United Memorial Church and spent a number of years volunteering for the Red Cross. During his younger years, he had a radio broadcasting show and was a member of the Friends of the Hank Snow Society. He was a Baptised member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgwater. He was an active member in the Canadian Army from 1951-1953 and also served in the Canadian Army West Nova Regiment. He was an ordinary member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, Bridgewater for 38 years. He retired from the Department of Transportation in 1990. Surviving are his only daughter, Stephanie (Greg) Oickle, Bridgewater; granddaughter, Crystal (Oickle) Champion, New Glasgow; his companion, Carolyn Croft, Oakhill; sisters, Esther (Cyril) Wentzell, Baker's Settlement; Dorothy Wilkie, Lunenburg; several nieces and nephews. Sam spent 43 years fishing, starting his career on schooners as a young man, and in later years he was the skipper of the Marion Crouse and then the Elizabeth Ann until his retirement. He took great pleasure in quilting and rug hooking during his spare time. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg, and the Unity Lodge 4 of the Masonic Order. She served as a role model to those who knew and loved her. Her strength of character and spirit stayed with her to the end as she fought a courageous battle with cancer. A life-long resident of Tantallon, he was the eldest son of the late James Dell and Gladys Bernice (Smith). Bruce was a well-known local businessman who opened his first store in 1925 at the age of 15 and remained active in his business to the age of 88. During the Second World War, he served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of the Loyal Seabright Union Lodge 7645 and founding president of the Tantallon Centennial Athletic Club. Born in West Dublin, she was a daughter of the late Gordon E. and Elsie (Slater) Romkey. She attended Mount Saint Vincent Academy in the secretarial department; Acadia University for a BA; Toronto University for and M.S.W. She joined the Nova Scotia civil service where she was coordinator of adoptions, particularly hard to place children. For her research and organization of mentally handicapped children she was honoured by the American Retarded Association. She was a devoted member of St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, became an elder, treasurer, Board of Managers and was Clerk of Session for over 30 years. After her retirement she attended Presbyterian College in Montreal, but was, through family illness transferred to the Atlantic School of Theology where she obtained her Master of Theology Studies. She was very active in community affairs, especially with the Lunenburg West Liberal Women's Association. She was a charter member of the Lunenburg County Historical Society. She was also a founding member of the LaHave Islands Marine Museum. Surviving are sister, Frances; brother, Gordon E., Crescent Beach; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Lake Jolly, Digby Co., August 27, 1908, the daughter of the late Margaret (Kaulback) and Gilbert Hubley. She moved to Bear River at six years of age where she attended Oakdene School and later the Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro, graduating in 1929. She taught school for many years at the Sissiboo School, the Cross Road School, Digby Elementary School and Oakdene School, Bear River, retiring in 1971. She was the most senior member of the Bear River United Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, an active member of the B.Y.P.U. and was a Dominion Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was also an active member of the Bear River Woman's Institute and the Order of the Eastern Star. Since 1986 she has been a resident of Riverside Manor, Comfort Inn and Tideview Terrace. She is survived by sister-in-law, Bertha (Dukeshire) Hubley, Toronto; her niece, Florence Stevens, Second Peninsula; her nephews, Douglas Hubley, Welland, Ont.; Norman Hubley, Toronto; David Hubley, Truro; 11 grand-nieces and nephews. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Everette and Naomi (Berringer) Langille. He attended Tower Road School, Morris Street High School, served with the school Cadets during those years and was a member of the 1st Heavy Anti- Aircraft Battery R.C.A. in Canada from 1933-1939 and was trained at the outbreak of the Second World War. He then served from September 1939 to July 1945 and was detailed to instructional duties for the service. Prior to the war he was employed by Eatons in the late fall of 1936 and retired in 1981 with a managerial position of various departments. He enjoyed life with the public and felt his associates were one big family. He helped in the opening of the Halifax Shopping Center. After retirement he left Halifax to enjoy country living. He took a part time job with W.H. Schwartz serving grocery stores Chester to Liverpool. He was a 30 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgewater. He loved country music and flashy cars. He was also a member of the Shriner's. Bub and his wife enjoyed retirement living in their country home in Upper Kennetcook and frequent travels. She delivered mail for 23 years for Canada Post on rural routes and she delivered The Chronicle- Herald for 27 years. She enjoyed playing the guitar, organ, singing and listening to the radio loudly and playing with her little buddy, Mario. She loved participating in various sports including bowling, darts, softball, hunting and fishing. Born on April 12, 1935, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Eurben and Beatrice (Laybolt) Munroe. Elvina operated the store at the Boutilier's Glen Camp Ground in South Rawdon, which she and her husband Stan owned and operated. Before moving to South Rawdon in 1973, Elvina and Stan were residents of St. Margaret's Bay. She was a former Sunday school teacher in St. Margaret's Bay, and also was a foster-parent. She was a member of the IOOF. Elvina was loved and respected by all in her community. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Elvina will be sadly and deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. Born in Lower East Chezzetcook, he was a son of the late Gibson and Ida May Conrod. He was educated in Dartmouth where the family lived for several years moving to Musquodoboit Harbour in 1919. He first worked in the mills as a lath sawyer before owning and operating Stan's Trucking Business., Musquodoboit Harbour. He was a member of St. Thomas Anglican Church, Musquodoboit Harbour and served as a warden and vestryman in his earlier years. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Turner); son, Foster and daughter-in-law, Dale, Calgary, Alta.; daughter, Iris and son-in-law, Allan, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Christopher Conrod and wife Marcy, Calgary, Alta.; Marcus Ouellette, Dartmouth; Scott Ouellette, Vancouver, B.C.; Michelle Ouellette, Dartmouth. After the war, she continued to work with the Red Cross and later worked as Director of Occupational Therapy for the Province of Manitoba.
