He served with the Merchant Marines during the Second World War and in his earlier years, worked as a fisherman with National Sea Products, Lunenburg division, and later at National Sea Products plant for 24 years. During his retirement, he was an inshore fisherman. He was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks. He is survived by his wife, the former Alma Hannams; sons, Scott and wife Becky, Larry and wife Brenda, both of Lunenburg; Lloyd and wife Susan, Garden Lots, and Carter, Blue Rocks; sisters, Julia (Mrs. Russell Enslow), Marilyn (Mrs. George Morash), and Mrs. Theresa Sabean, all of Blue Rocks; brothers, Arnold Mullins, Blue Rocks, and eight grandchildren. True to her determined nature, she battled and triumphed over cancer twice, once in her thirties and again in her sixties. She worked for several years in David's Dress Shop in Halifax as assistant manager. She was a member of the congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Woodlawn. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time in her garden. Local resident and business entrepreneur, lost his longtime battle with kidney disease and complications due to leukemia on Thursday, May 6, 1999. He was highly successful in numerous endeavors and had many exciting adventures during his lifetime. He attended Bridgewater High School and excelled as a member of the Athletic Sports Department. He later involved himself in the body building profession on the amateur level and succeeded in winning a title at the Atlantic Body Building Championships in 1982. During this time he also attended Community College for three years, studying electrical construction and then received a degree in mechanical drafting. He later worked in the financial industry, working for a number of years in the credit field until he started and successfully ran his own mortgage company and is best remembered for his work through this company. His hobbies were varied, including model plane building, boating, woodworking and he was a gifted artist in oil painting, water colors and pencil sketches. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Tomarelli; children, Angela and Alex; his mother, Margaret Ellen (Morgan), Bridgewater; brother, C.E. He was a flying officer with the RCAF from 1940-1944, after which he worked with Cummins Diesel and Fairbanks Morse. He served in the Corps of Canadian Commissionaires at RCMP headquarters in Halifax from 1982, retiring in 1992. He was an active member of Bethany United Church throughout his adult life. Larry was a fine musician and loved and played a wide variety of music all his life. Prior to the Second World War, he worked at Keith's Brewery and in 1941, was employed at the Bedford Magazine until his retirement in 1974. During the 1930s, he was a noted oarsman for the North Star Rowing Club, competing in regattas locally and in the United States. His trophies from these events are on display at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. He was an avid outdoorsman, having fished most of the lakes on the Eastern Shore and hunted from his camp at Shaw Lake. He always had a story to tell. Clayton Charles Q.C. - 82, Halifax, died May 23, 1999, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Liverpool, he was the son of the late Charles and Lenetta (Dauphinee) Hutchins. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He graduated from Queens County Academy, University of Kings College and taught two years at Kings Collegiate School in Windsor. He also graduated from Dalhousie Law School. He joined the armed services serving overseas as an infantry officer during the Second World War with both the West Nova Scotia Highlanders and the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, and later was a career legal officer with JAG, retiring in 1967 with the rank of Lt. Col. He went on to teach at Dalhousie Law School from where he retired after 19 years and was made professor emeritus. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Association and a past chairman of the Nova Scotia Police Commission. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Ross; stepson, Robert Gregoire; step-granddaughter, Michelle Noel-Smith; step-grandson, Robert Bruce Gregoire. He was best known for his love of fishing, playing cards and peppermints. Known affectionately as "Boppy", he enjoyed his time with his 13 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. For 56 years, he had a loving marriage with his devoted wife, Audrey (Zinck). He was the son of the late James Edward and Ella Mae (Veinot) Reeves. He was predeceased by sisters, Daisy, Florence and Ethel; brothers, Harold, Ira, Austin, Roland, and John who died in infancy.
