Born in Heckmans Island, he was a son of the late Angus and June (Allen) Tanner. Ray was owner and operator of Bluenose Motors for many years and was past president of the Nova Scotia Automobile Association. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, where he was a member of the Board of Managers for many years. He was past president of the Lunenburg Board of Trade and was a member and Past Commodore of the Lunenburg Yacht Club and a member of the Bluenose Seniors Club. Ray was also a member of Unity Lodge No. 4 of the Masonic Order. Ray is survived by his second wife, the former Mildred Evelyn Wagner; son, Bruce and his wife Pauline, Lunenburg; stepdaughters, Linda and her husband David Mosher, Oakville, Ont.; Krisanne and her husband Peter Collins, Toronto; sister, Gloria and her husband Harold Crouse of Lunenburg; grandchildren, Steven and his wife Jodi, Bridgewater; Roger and his wife Wendy, Bridgewater; Stefanie and her husband Darin Johnston, Halifax; four step-grandchildren; five great- grandchildren. A long-time resident of Halifax, he retired in 1982, after a 42 year career with the Naval Intelligence Department of the Federal Government. Clark was an original member of the congregation of St. Margaret's of Scotland Anglican Church, Halifax. He was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge (Composite Branch). He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Born in Halifax, on March 19, 1914, he was the eldest son of the late James David and Ethel Mary (Rudolph) Croft. At an early age he moved with his parents to Little Liscomb. He was an avid hunter and sport fisherman all his life. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the R.C.N., St. John's, Nfld. After the war he worked with Rex Redmond at Hemlow's Store in Liscomb, until it closed in 1957. His career with the Federal Government began in 1959 in Ecum Secum, as a meteorologist, continued in Elmsdale at the Halifax International Airport, ending in Moncton, N.B., where he retired as Regional Supervisor with the Department of Transport. In 1978 he returned to Liscomb. He was a devoted member of St. John's United Church, Liscomb for 64 years, serving as Treasurer and Secretary. He was Past Master of Queen's Lodge 34 AF&AM, Sherbrooke, serving as secretary for several years. He was a recipient of the Meritous Service Award and was due to receive his 50 year jewel in 2001. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 86. He is survived by his special companion and wife of 56 years, Myrtle; daughter, Brenda (Michael) Wheeler, Surrey, B.C.; son, Blair (Susan) Croft; grandchildren, Justin, Vanessa and Julian, all of Mineville; brother, Lloyd Croft, Liscomb; sister, Edith Cameron, East River St. Mary's; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Beulah, "Aunt Babe", had a great love of family, friends and community and was very active in her church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She graduated from Wilfred Beauty Academy in Boston in 1928 and worked many years in that field in Boston. She spent the last three years of life in Shoreham Village Home for Special Care, Chester, where she made many friends among residents and staff. She was well known for her collection of Beanie Babies which she was so proud of and dearly loved. Retiring in 1989, she moved to Petite Riviere, Lunenburg Co., assisting in the operation of the Arenburg Bed and Breakfast. Born in Berwick, Kings Co., July 1, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Rosella Sylvia Wynacht. She spent her early years and received her education in Bridgewater and in 1922 took up residence in Roxbury, Mass. In 1923, she married Frederick Franklyn Smith and they resided in Roxbury. In 1980, as a widow, she returned to Bridgewater to spend her remaining years with her cousin Ronald Wynacht and family. The last few years she resided at Morine's Villa in Newcombville. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; step-daughter, Eleanor; step-sons, Frederick and Edward. Cremation has taken place and as requested by her, there will be no visitation at the funeral home and a private committal service will take place at a later date in the Brookside Cemetery, Rev.
