SCHMELING FOUND BY WELSH DIVISION HAMBURG, May 17 - (Reuters) - Max Schmeling, German heavyweight boxer and former world champion, has been found safe and fit in Hamburg by troops of the 53rd Welsh division; it was learned today. Schmeling twice had been reported killed. He was discovered by two military policemen from Manchester who are boxing fans. He said he had been discharged from the German 3rd Parachute Regiment but was, however, perfectly fit. Previous reports of Schmeling's death had come from Crete, where he participated in the German paratroop landing that took the island in 1941, and from Norway, where his body was reported to have been found last summer. An Associated Press story from Paris yesterday quoted the United States Army newspaper Stars and Stripes as reporting Schmeling was held in a prison camp behind American lines. The army news paper said Major Clement Wheeler, of San Antonio Tex., talked with Schmeling for more than two hours during a visit to the camp. "Max was wearing civilian clothes and he looked prosperous" Major Wheeler was quoted as saying. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canada's Honor Roll Air Force DIED (NATURAL CAUSES) AMLIN, Edsel E..
