Application for Testes of Administration Received & filed the eighteenth day of February A.C. 1864 Page One: Unto the Surrogate Court of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville The Petition of Ann Phillips of the Township of Wolford in the County of Grenville, one of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, widow of the late Christopher Phillips in his lifetime of Wolford aforesaid, yeoman, deceased Humbly Showeth That Christopher Phillips, late of the Township of Wolford in the County of Grenville, one of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, yeoman, deceased died on or about the twelfth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty two at the township of Wolford aforesaid and that the said deceased at the time of his death had his fixed place of abode in the Township of Wolford in the said County of Grenville- That the said deceased died married leaving a lawful wife being the petitioner, a daughter of Mary Phillips, residing in the township of Oxford in the aforesaid county of Grenville, a son Thomas Phillips residing in the county of Wolford aforesaid, a son, John Phillips who when last heard from resided in the State of Massachusetts one of the United States of America but your petitioner has no knowledge of the present residence of the said John Phillips, a son Alexander Phillips who resides in the State of Michigan, one of the United States of America, all of which children are over the age of Twenty-one years and the following infant children all residing with the good petitioner of the Township of Wolford aforesaid; William Francis Phillips, Leticia Phillips, Ann Jane Phillips and George Henry Phillips and without having left any will, codicil or testamentary paper whatosoever and that your petitioner is the lawful widow of the said deceased and the mother of all the aforesaid children ~ That the personal stated and effects of the said deceased which he in any way did ………….of or entitled to and for ….expect to which letters of administration are about to be granted……….of about……eleven hundred dollars to the best of your petitioner's knowledge, information and belief. Wherefore your Petitioner prays that administration of the personal estate and effects of the said deceased my be granted and committed to her by this honourable court. Dated this twenty-sixth day of January, 1864 Signed by Ann Phillips I, Ann Phillips, of the Township of Wolford in the County of Grenville, one of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, the lawful widow of the late Christopher Phillips in his lifetime of Wolford aforesaid, yeoman, deceased, make oath and say that Christopher Phillips, late of the Township of Wolford in the County of Grenville, yeoman, deceased, died married leaving a widow, this deponent, a daughter, Mary Phillips , residing at the Township of Oxford in the aforesaid County of Grenville, a son, Thomas Phillips, residing at Wolford aforesaid, a son, John Phillips who when last heard from resided in the United States of America, present residence unknown to me this deponent, a son, Alexander Phillips who resides in the state of Michigan one of the United States of America, all of whom together with this deponent are above the age of twenty-one years and the following infant children who reside with this deponent at Wolford aforesaid were also left by the said deceased: William Francis Phillips, Leticia Phillips, Ann Jane Phillips and George Henry Phillips and that I, this deponent am the Mother of all the said children. That I am the lawful widow of the said deceased and that the said deceased left no other lawful children save and except as herein mentioned……… That I will faithfully administer the personal estate and effects of the deceased by paying his just debts and distributing the residue (if any) of his estate according to law and that I will exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the personal effects estate and effects …..and chattels of the said deceased and render a true and just account of my admini (seems to just end here) ============================== No. 747 In the Estate of Anne Phillips Issued 15, November 1890 This Instrument Witnesseth that Ann Phillips of the Township of Oxford in the County of Grenville in the Province of Ontario in the Dominion of Canada, Wife of George Phillips, being of sound disposing mind Memory and understanding do make, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament and writings in the nature of Last Wills and Testament by me heretofore made. My Will is First, That my funeral charges and just debts shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named. The residue of my Estate and Pa…………. which shall not be required for the payment of my just debts family & changes and the expenses addressing the execution of the ………. Will and the Administration of any estates I give devise and dispose……as follows: To Wit: I give and Devise to my Daughter Eliza Henderson, Wife of Andrew Henderson fifty dollars. I give and devise to my daughter Deborah Ann Harrington, wife of Augustus Harrington fifty dollars and it to be paid to her, my Daughter, Deborah Ann Harrington at such time and in such amounts as my Executor may see fit. I give and Devise to my son, John Beckett My Ma…….and my Interest of all this life stock and twenty-five dollars in money. I Give and Devise to my son Thomas Beckett one hundred dollars. The aforesaid amount of money, fifty dollars to my Daughter, Eliza Henderson, Fifty dollars to my Daughter Deborah Ann Harrington, Twenty five dollars to my son John Beckett and One Hundred dollars to my son Thomas Beckett and to be paid with the exception of Deborah Harrington, who the last payment is paid on the Mortgage which I hold on her lot number. Forty on the North West side of Coth…..Street and Lot Number Fifty three on the South East side of Oxford Street in the Village of Kemptville in the County of Grenville in the Province of Ontario and Dominion of Canada aforesaid the said Mortgage having date the fifteenth day of September One thousand eight hundred and seventy three. Should there be any money remaining after the payment of aforesaid amount it is to be …….in the amount aforesaid Thomas Beckett to do with as he sees fit. And I do nominate and appoint my son, Thomas Beckett of the Township of Oxford in the County of Grenville and Dominion of Canada aforesaid, Yeoman, to be the Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. For Probate Rec.'d 3rd Nov./90 Issued 15 Nov/90 This is the last will and Testament of me, Ann Phillips of the Township of Oxford in the County of Grenville, in the Province of Ontario, Widow, made this ninth day of March in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety as follows: I hereby constitute and appoint my son Thomas Phillips of the Township of Wolford in the County of Grenville farmer to be sole executor of this my last Will directing my said executor to pay all any just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and the legacies hereinafter given out of my estate. After the payment of my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses I give devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate, ready money securities for money, goods and chattels and all other my real and personal estate and effects whatosoever and wheresoever unto my several sons and daughters their heirs executors administrators and assigns, to be divided equally and one share to each of them my sons and daughters to be paid them as soon after my decease but within one year as conveniently may be done. And hereby revoking all other wills and testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made I declare this only to be my last and testament.
