Monck County was an electorial division "created in 1867 to allow necessary constituencies to provide seats for Ontario, to balance those held in Quebec, as provided by the British North America Act.
The county included townships from Haldimand, Lincoln and Welland. In redistributions, Monck County, has disappeared."3
"Population 17,602 in 1871 and 15,315 in 1891."3
