  • St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, A New Transcript (2009) by Sandra and John Horwat, is now available on CD-ROM.
  • Executive and Committee Members list updated for 2010 after the Annual General Meeting on November 21st. There are two open positions on the executive for members to fill, and two open positions for committee coordinators that anyone can fill. Please consider helping our branch to maintain the activities and on-going support for genealogists and family historians worldwide.

  • Helen Coffey discussed How She Published her Genealogy at the Quinte Branch Ancestors in Your Attic open forum in June, and donated a copy of her book "From Tipperary to Tyendinaga" to the branch library. 
  • The Branch participated in the 225th Anniversary of the Loyalist Landing at Adolphustown on June 13th.
  • Meetings & Events updated with the Toronto Branch OGS Irish Ancestry Workshop and the Stirling-Rawdon Genealogy Fair 2009 in August.
  • Upcoming Branch Meetings include Sean Smith from the Archives of Ontario in September; John Reid will present Researching British Immigrants to Canada in October, and Bill Hunt will discuss Rum Runners, Gamblers, and Flyers:  A Look Back at Quinte's Fascinating Past in November. In 2010 Randy Saylor will speak on "The Migrations of our Pioneer Ancestors: Understanding Their Life and Times" at the Crouse-Wanamaker lecture in January and Doug Knutson will present his recently expanded and completed film documentary "Damned Rascal", the story of soldier, loyalist, spy, adventurer Capt. John Walden Meyers. in February
