ANTONIO – Helen Antonio (nee Holowachuk), 88 of Hazel Dell, passed away on January 241998 at Regina Sunset Nursing Home. Born to Antin and Mary Holowachuk (nee Boyko) on September 25, 1909 in the Chechow district. She was educated at Chechow School. Helen married Sam Antonio on January 24, 1927 and they resided on a farm near Hazel Dell. After her husband’s death in 1974, she lived with her children. When her health began to fail she took up residence at Regina Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband, Sam, a daughter Nettie, son Johnny, granddaughter Crystal, five brothers in infancy, a brother Sam and sisters Tekla Romick, Barbara Antonio and Julia Woytko, she is survived by a sister Nettie Barteski; two sons, Paul and Philip; four daughters, Isabelle (Mike) Pasiechnik, Pauline, Living at Sunset Nursing Home, Esther (Edward) Prystay and Betty Dziaduck; five grandsons, six granddaughters and four great-granddaughters.

ANTONIO – Johnny Antonio, age 67, died of a heart attack in Vancouver on November 25, 1995. After Cremation a memorial service was held at Hazel Dell Recreation Centre on December 4th. Johnny was born July 4, 1928 to Sam and Helen (Holowchuk) Antonio in the Hazel Dell district. He attended Hazel Dell School in the country and later went to work at a sawmill in Edson, AB. Later he enlisted with the Princess Patricia Light Infantry Army. He served Canada in the Korean War. After being discharged from the army e worked in Vancouver as a roofing contractor until his retirement. He enjoyed baseball, hockey and football. He was predeceased by his dad, Sam in 1973 and sister Nettie in infancy. Johnny leaves to mourn, his mother Helen, two brothers, and four sisters; Isabel (Mike) Pasiechnik, Paul (Bonnie) Antonio Pauline Antonio, Philip (Doreen) Antonio, Esther (Edward) Prystay and Betty Dziaduck. He also has six nieces, five nephews and three great nieces.

ANTONIO – Pauline Nettie Antonio, 68 of Regina and formerly of the Hazel Dell area, passed away on March 6, 2006 at Sunset Extenicare in Regina, Funeral held at Preeceville Funeral Home and burial in Seventh-day Adventist Church Cemetery. Born on May 11, 1937, on a farm in the Hazel Dell area to Sam and Helen Antonio, she lived on the farm until her father died. She moved to Hazel Dell with her mother and in the following years, she and her mother lived with several relatives. In 1991, she and her mother moved to Sunset Extendicare in Regina. Predeceased by her parents, Sam and Helen, a sister Nettie, and a brother, Johnny, she is survived by two brothers, Paul (Bonnie) of Hazel Dell and Philip (Doreen) of Pilot Butte; three sisters, Isabel Pasiechnick of Neepawa, Betty Dziaduck of Yorkton and Ester (Eddie) Prystay of Preeceville.

ANTONIO – Sam Antonio, 73 of Hazel Dell, died on February 2, 1974 in Kamsack Nursing Home, after a long illness. The funeral held in the Seventh day Adventist Church at Hazel Dell. Born in Austria, he came to Canada in 1901, with his parents, who settled in the Hazel Dell district. He married Helen Holowachuk in 1927 and they farmed in the district until 1969 when they retired and moved to Hazel Dell. Predeceased by a daughter, Nettie, he is survived by his wife; three sons, John of Vancouver, Paul of Hazel Dell an Philip of Regina; four daughters, Isabel Pasiechnik of Neepawa, MB, Esther Prystay of Preeceville, Betty Dziaduck of Roblin, MB and Polly at home; a brother, Nick of Hazel Dell and nine grandchildren.

HACHKOWSKI – Rose Lilly Hachkowski, 65 of Canora, died on February 21, 2006 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Born on September 6, 1940 in the Ketchen district to Sam and Stella (Tataryn) Shewchuk, she attended school in the Ketchen area. Her family moved to Hazel Dell and then when she was in the late teens, her family moved to Kelowna. She worked in the fruit industry. Later in life she returned to Sask. She married Frank Hachkowski in Turro, Nova Scotia, on October 29, 2000. In 2001, they moved to Canora. She traveled throughout Canada. She grew up with the Adventist Church and became a member in Canora. Predeceased by her parents, Sam and Stella, and a brother Rueben, she is survived by her husband, Frank; three brothers, Joseph (Lisa) Shewchuk of Lacombe, AB and Len and Don of Armstrong, BC; and two sisters, Rachel (Ed) Sehn and Jean Shewchuk, both of Kelowna.

STECZKEWICZ - Anne Steczkewicz, age 75, of Lintlaw, passed away May 24, 1986 in the Preeceville Hospital. Funeral service held in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Hazel Dell. Anne Sawchuk was born July 10, 1910 at Kamarno, MB and moved with her family at the age of 14 to Glenworth, about 95 miles southeast of Swift Current. In 1932, at the age of 22, she returned to Kamarno where she married William Steczkewicz, and the couple moved eight miles south and farmed around Teulon. During the early 1950's, she arrived in Fort Qu'Appelle where she worked as a cook in a hotel, and in 1963 she bought a farm in the Hazel Dell district, which was passed on to her son, Mike during the mid-1970's. Predeceased by her husband, her parents, and a brother, Bill Sawchuk, she is survived by two sons, Mike of Hazel Dell and Peter of Winnipeg; three daughters, Jean Doyon of Toronto, Mary Adies of Kamloops and Nell Johnston of Regina; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
