J. G. YOEGER.
Commercial progress and prosperity are conserved through the efforts
of such enterprising and reliable business men as J. G. Yoeger, auto-
mobile dealer and president of the Board of Trade of Humboldt. He was
born in Waterloo county, Ontario, on the 19th of December, 1875, a son
of George and Catherine (Ritz) Yoeger. His father was a tradesman in
the province of Ontario for many years. Both Mr. and Mrs. Yoeger
have passed away.
The public schools of his native province afforded J. G. Yoeger his
preliminary education and he came west in 1896 and located in Mani-
toba. He located in the southern part of the province, in Altona, and
there engaged in the hardware business until 1905. In that year he
came to Humboldt and conducted a hardware business here until 1916,
when he established himself in the automobile business and has since
been active in the operation of a garage, and handles the Ford agency
for this district. Mr. Yoeger is a self-made man in the truest sense of
the word and his close application to the thing at hand and innate ability
have been dominant factors in his continued success. He was elected
president of the local Board of Trade in 1922 and is satisfactorily dis-
charging the duties of that office.
In 1898 Mr. Yoeger was married to Miss Anne Dawes, and to them
five children have been born: Russell, Wilfird, Laverne, Harold and Jack.
Mr. Yoeger has always been interested in the political affairs of Hum-
boldt and he~served as mayor during 1915, 1916 and 1917. His adminis~
tration was highly successful and he inaugurated and brought to com-
pletion many movements for the upbuilding of his home town. He was
a member of the school board from 1911 to 1915. Fraternally Mr.
Yoeger is identified with the Masons and his religious faith is that of
the Presbyterian church. He is widely and favorably known in every
connection, possessing the social, genial qualities which everywhere gain
friendship and win confidence.
