Winnifred Ritthaler was raised in Saskatchewan during the 1930's.  
Her father, Philipp Ritthaler, was originally from Prussia.  
Philipp Ritthaler was the chair of the Doverly School District 
#2794 in the Municipality of Kelross.  At a young age, Winnifred
learned to write English, and was needed as the school secretary
at twelve years old. For a school district, Doverly was fairly 
large with between 50 and 55 students during the 1930's.  


The Municipality of Kellross # 247  includes the towns of Kelliher,
Lestock and Leross.  The Doverly School District #2794 was near 
Leross.  Leross was located at Section 11 - Township  27 Range 
14 West of the 2nd Meridian.  The R. M. of Kellross was about 
40 or 50 miles from Yorkton, Sk.B
