Strassburg / Last Mountain Valley School District 92
From the chapter of the same name by H.A.Pirie

In 1887 a petition was sent to establish a school district, and permissions were granted. A log school building was erected on SW section 22 township 24 range 21, and the first records of a teacher were in 1888. Boundaries were changed in 1888, and no records of school activity between the years 1892-1899. In 1914, a new frame school building was erected "where the NE corner meets the SE corner of section 21 Tonwship 24 Range 21". As STRASSBURG STATION SD NO 1542 formed in 1905, the Deputy Minister requested a name change for STRASSBURG PROTESTANT PUBLIC SD NO 92. Therefore in 1914, the name became LAST MOUNTAIN VALLEY SD #92. There was another boundary change, the school survived the economic depression and drought years of the 1930s, finally closing following the school term of 1958. The school building was sold, and became a family home

NOTE: Many spelling variations evolved for the Neu Elsass area which came to be known as Strasburg, Strassburg, Strasbourg, Strasbourgh
Strasburg T24 R23 W2 was Near Long Lake (which is now monikered Last Mountain Lake) **** Probably why the railway station and post office were originally called "Strasbourgh Station" Source: Dominion of Canada Map Shewing Mounted Police Stations & Patrols Throughout the Northwest Territories During the Year 1888. In the Moose Jaw - Lake Centre region this placename underwent several name changes. The post office named Strassburg Station opened in 1905 at Sec.25, Twp.24, R.22; and changed names in 1919 to Strasbourg Station; and again the post office changed names to Strasbourg in 1956.

The local history/family biography book Between Long Lake and Last Mountain by Bulyea, Duval, Strasbourg Strasbourg, Bulyea, Duval History Book Committee lists both Strassburg and Strasbourg.

From 1886 to 1905 there was another placename of similar name; Strassburg which was located at Sec.12, Twp.24, R.22, W2 (Assiniboia West) Quoted from An Analysis of Saskatchewan placenames
