Old Fort Des Moines Chapter

The Old Fort Des Moines Chapter was organized November 10, 1944 with Mrs. Clyde Brenton, National President installing officers. The chapter was named for the area's predominant geographical site, Old Fort Des Moines which is often referred to as "the West Point of the Midwest" because of its majestic red brick buildings and lush tree-lined landscape, Fort Des Moines shaped American history from its inception. Most members are from the local area; however, some members are from other areas, as well. Local residency is not a requirement for membership in any chapter.

The Old Fort Des Moines Chapter meets on the fourth Friday of October, February and May, at 12:30 p.m. In December, the chapter meets on the first Friday for our Christmas event. If you would like to attend one of our meetings, please contact us.

We welcome any woman for membership who is a citizen of the United States of America, of good moral character, who has attained her eighteenth year. Information on membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Colonists can be found here.
