About the DAR

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, NSDAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.

As one of the most inclusive genealogical societies in the country, NSDAR boasts 168,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the United States and internationally. Any woman 18 years or older-regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background-who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.

Membership Requirements

Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.

Sierra Amador Chapter

Sierra Amador began in 2006 with fifteen members. We now have more than 60 members from Amador, Calaveras, and several other counties in California, as well as some members who now live out of the state.
